Where should I go fishing?
Icicle River
Directly outside of Leavenworth, this is a popular spring river for Leavenworth fishing because the National Fish Hatchery is located on it.
- Seasons: Best in Spring time when salmon are released
- Put ins: Access along Icicle Road by the National Fish Hatchery, also good for boating down river and anchoring at key points
- Fishing: People mostly fish for salmon in this river
Wenatchee River
This river runs through Leavenworth, Chelan, Peshastin, and Wenatchee giving you lots of places to access Leavenworth Washington fishing.
- Seasons: Good all year round, depending on what type of fish you are going for
- Put ins: There are lots of access points including state parks, at the confluence of Lake Wenatchee and the Wenatchee River, and at the several campgrounds that are located on the river.
- Fishing: A good river for steelhead salmon
Fish Lake
If the name doesn’t tell you what it’s good for, nothing will.
- Location: Just north of Lake Wenatchee. Take US 2 W to WA 207 N. Turn right onto Chiwawa Loop Road, right onto CO HWY 22, 2nd left onto Chiwawa River Road, 1st left onto Humphrey Drive and right onto Idelwild Road.
- Seasons: Open year round, particularly good in spring and in the winter for ice fishing
- Fishing: Rainbow trout, brown trout, and yellow perch
Columbia River
20 miles from Leavenworth, the Columbia River is a good place to go big game fishing.
- Seasons: Good from summer through December
- Put ins: There is little shore fishing on the Columbia River. Instead, people do most of the fishing by boat.
- Fishing: Great for big salmon and other type of sport fish
Ice Fishing
- Where: Fish Lake
- What: Great ice fishing for rainbow trout and perch
